HVAC Installation Company in West LA: From Survey to Final Inspection

You live in West Los Angeles, the old furnace and air conditioner are finished, and you are looking for an HVAC installation company that will put the new system on paper before it touches the house. That is how WLA Climate Group works. Ask for a written quote and a survey visit and you will have a document you can read at the kitchen table.

What sets the price of an install

The price of a West LA install comes from your house and is set at the survey. Four things move it most:

  • The size of the system, which comes from a room-by-room load calculation rather than the label on the old unit.
  • The ducts and the return: sealing, resizing or rebuilding them if the test says they cannot carry a new system's airflow.
  • The electrical work: the disconnect, the wiring and whether the panel can carry the new equipment.
  • The type of system: central AC, a heat pump, a furnace, ductless heads or a mix.

Each of those gets its own line in the written quote, and the quote is in your hands before work starts. The number you approve is the number for that scope.

What the survey looks at

We walk the furnace closet, the attic, the electrical panel and the spot where an outdoor unit could sit. We ask which rooms never feel right. Then we measure rooms and windows, check attic insulation and look at the duct condition.

That visit is where the sizing starts. The load calculation sets the size, so it can differ from what is there now. Equipment is not ordered until the load calculation is done.

Where the condenser goes

Placement is part of the hire decision, because a good machine in a bad spot becomes a neighbor problem. We check the side yard, the lot line and the neighbor's windows. In Palms, Century City and Cheviot Hills we also check HOA rules before install day, and for condo owners we ask what the board needs to see in writing.

If a house has no space for a duct chase, we write ductless heads next to the central option so you can compare the two.

The permit and the inspection

Replacing a furnace, heat pump, AC or ductwork in California is permitted work. West LA, Rancho Park, Cheviot Hills, Palms and Century City sit inside the City of Los Angeles, so the permit comes from LADBS and ends with a final inspection. We pull it and we meet the inspector.

Depending on the scope, Title 24 can also require duct sealing and a duct leakage test, verified by a third-party HERS rater who is not the installer. If your job triggers it, the test goes into the same quote, not into a surprise on day two.

What install day looks like

The crew covers the floors and the path in, removes the old equipment, sets the new condenser and coil or air handler, and makes the electrical and condensate connections. Then they pull a vacuum, charge the system, record start-up readings and set up the thermostat.

A straight change-out is planned as one day. Duct or electrical changes can add a second. Before we leave, we show you the thermostat and the filter and tell you what the start-up readings mean for your system.

Newer residential split systems are made with lower-GWP A2L refrigerants such as R-454B or R-32, so the quote names the refrigerant the equipment runs on.

Choosing between a repair and an install

Not every warm house needs a new system. If your unit is worth fixing, our AC repair crew will say so and write down the equipment condition. If it is not, the replacement quote sits next to the repair so you can compare both.

When the answer is a new system, the job is AC installation done in the order above: survey, load calculation, written quote, permit, install day and final inspection.

If you are also weighing a new furnace, see our heating installation and ask for it on the same visit.

Questions before you book

Who pulls the permit?

We do. The permit matches your address: LADBS for West LA addresses inside the City of Los Angeles. We also meet the inspector for the final.

Can I get central and ductless priced together?

Yes. Ask for both on the survey and the quote lists each option with the duct and electrical work it needs.

What should I have ready for the survey?

Clear access to the furnace or air handler, the attic or crawl space, the panel and the outdoor unit. A note on which rooms run hot or cold helps, and so do recent utility bills.

Do you serve the neighborhoods around West LA?

Yes. We install across West Los Angeles, Rancho Park, Cheviot Hills, Palms, Century City, Inglewood and Ladera Heights. Permits follow the address, and we handle the one that matches yours.

If you smell gas, leave the house first and call SoCalGas or 911 from outside.
