Heating and Cooling Company in West LA: Replace Furnace and AC in One Job

Your West Los Angeles house has an old furnace in one closet and an air conditioner out in the side yard, and one of them has just quit. A heating and cooling company that can look at both at once can price both in one visit. Ask for one written quote covering heating and cooling and we will put the options side by side.

What sets the price when both systems change

The total for a combined replacement comes from the house and is set at the survey. The quote is written before work starts, and these lines move it:

  • Furnace or heat pump: a gas furnace and a heat pump are priced as separate options on the same quote.
  • Cooling equipment: central AC sized from the load calculation, matched to the same blower and ducts.
  • Ducts and return: sealing, resizing or rebuilding when the test shows the old runs cannot move the new airflow.
  • Gas and flue work on a furnace, or electrical work on a heat pump.
  • The permit and the final inspection.

Because the pieces share ducts and a thermostat, quoting them together keeps the scope clear. Nothing is left for a later visit.

Furnace, heat pump or both options

We replace furnaces that have reached the end of the road, and we quote a heat pump beside each one. A heat pump handles summer cooling with the same equipment and takes the gas furnace and its flue out of the house.

A heat pump house may need an electrical panel check first, which we do on the survey. If you want to stay with gas, the furnace quote includes the combustion and carbon monoxide check.

For a gas smell, leave the house first and call SoCalGas or 911 from outside.

Why the survey comes before the equipment

Sizing is done on paper. We measure each room, note window size and direction, check the attic insulation and look at the duct condition. That load calculation, not the label on the old unit, picks the tonnage and the furnace size.

An oversized system short-cycles and leaves the house clammy. An undersized one runs all afternoon and still falls behind. The survey is how we avoid both.

Permit and inspection

Replacing a furnace, heat pump, AC or ductwork in California is permitted work. Your West LA address sits inside the City of Los Angeles, so the permit comes from LADBS. We pull it and meet the inspector.

When a job touches the ducts, Title 24 can require duct sealing and a duct leakage test, depending on the scope. A third-party HERS rater who is not the installer verifies it. A combined job handles that once.

Furnace, AC and heat pump lines to compare bid by bid

You should be able to hold the quote next to any other bid and see the same lines. Ours lists:

  • The equipment for heating and for cooling, with the size each one was sized to.
  • The duct and return work, or a note that the test showed none is needed.
  • The gas, flue or electrical changes for the system you pick.
  • The thermostat and how it is set up.
  • The permit, the final inspection and who meets the inspector.

If you choose to hire us, the quote you approved is the scope we install. A change on install day is a change you agree to first, in writing.

Replacing both now or one first

You do not have to do both. If only the furnace has failed, our heating installation crew can replace it now and write the AC replacement as a later option. The survey still looks at both, so the new furnace is sized and ducted with the future AC in mind.

If the AC is the one that has failed, we do the reverse. For a house with no space for new ducts, the quote can include ductless heads for the rooms that need them.

What to have ready for the survey

Clear access to the furnace closet, the attic or crawl space, the electrical panel and the outdoor unit. Tell us which rooms run hot or cold, and keep a few recent utility bills handy. Condo owners should bring the HOA rules on equipment and wall openings.

Questions before you book

Can I replace only the furnace now?

Yes. We write the furnace job and note what the AC would need later, so the first job does not box in the second.

Will a combined replacement need two permits?

We pull the permit that matches the scope of your job and your address. Ask for the details on the survey, and the quote will list the permit work.

Do you quote a heat pump next to the furnace?

Yes, on every furnace replacement. Both are written out with the electrical or gas work each one needs, so you can compare them.

Do you also repair systems?

Yes. We find the fault first and say whether a repair is worth it. If it is not, the replacement is written next to the repair.

You will find our work across West Los Angeles, Rancho Park, Cheviot Hills, Palms and Century City.

Call (877) 748-5845 any hour, tell us which system failed and we will book the survey.
